Screen Printed Garments + Zine

Self Directed

London Chronicle: East is a self-directed project that reinterprets East London’s history through digital illustration, symbolism, and editorial design, focusing on six key cultural and historical sites. Informed by archival research and site visits, I distilled findings into a contemporary visual language that captured both the layered history and modern identity of the area, while aiming to make storytelling accessible to a younger audience; testing how narratives can shift across mediums from zine culture to fashion.

The outcome was a printed zine and a series of hand made + hand pulled

screen - printed garments, produced under 'KUTNPASTE' : a professional creative brand initiative I founded alongside my main practice. The project demonstrates skills in research led design, print production, and brand creation, with future editions and collections in development.

⤷ Behind the Scenes:

London Chronicle: East was one of those projects where I basically lived outside with my sketchbook and camera for weeks. I chose seven East London landmarks and spent time drawing them on location, then went back with my camera to capture the details I couldn’t get down fast enough. Once I had the drawings and photos, I wrote up all my research for the zine; the history, the architecture, the weird little facts I found while wandering around those areas.

The outcome ended up being a mix of screen-printed garments and a hand-made zine. I screen printed each design by hand onto T-shirts and long sleeves, working layer by layer until the prints came out exactly how I wanted. For the zine, I xerox printed everything, trimmed and bound it myself, and kept the whole thing really gritty and physical. It all came together as a 36-page look into East London through drawing, photography and print.
